Life On The Half Shell

from Days of Iron by Ry Smith

/

about

Based on the poem "Life On The Half Shell" by Charles Bukowski.

lyrics

The obvious is going to kill us//our luck is used up and always we regroup and wait//we allowed it//we don't doubt it//the heart it speaks alone//the obvious is trying to scare us//we haven't forgotten the fight but the battle ain't won//before I stiffen up and kick the bucket//swallow the eight ball and send up my last rocket//hustle into the dark get the hell out and hang it up//the obvious is going to kill us//our dreams are used up and always we rethink and hate//we are nervous//we deserve it//the heart it leaks alone//the obvious is trying to hurt us//the fences are broken and our tickets are punched for the ride//before I stiffen up and kick the bucket//swallow the eight ball and send up my last rocket//hustle into the dark get the hell out and tighten up//gotta send a message out to get my head right//wiggle my big toe and dance in the darkest of night//hustle into the void get the hell out//and hang it up...
